Cornell Holiday Mixer 2019

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

The Holidays are upon us so let’s get together and celebrate! We hope to see you at our annual mixer on November 21st!

Our friends at The Resort at Pelican Hill Newport Beach have invited us to use the Great Room Social Lounge to gather and give one last Hail to our Alma Mater, Cornell. Since it is the holidays, we encourage everyone to wear their best (or ugliest) Holiday Sweater. Feel free to arrive a little bit early, as a live vocalist typically performs from 5-7pm. Pelican Hill has also extended their $5 at 5 p.m. wine special throughout the evening exclusively for us.

I look forward to seeing everyone on the 21st.

----

Perched upon 504 acres of unrivaled coastal beauty, Pelican Hill® is set apart as a world unto itself, offering a feast for the senses and a holiday retreat for family and friends. You’ve never gathered in the Great Room quite like this. Our Social Lounge is a lively scene of contemporary music, creative cocktails, small bites and seasonal activities. Mix and mingle by day with friends, or unwind late into the night with a mix of current hits and popular classics.

Zinck's Night - 2021

Join us at Zinck’s Night, Thursday, October 21st!

Lift the chorus, speed it onward,

Loud her praises tell;

Hail to thee, our Alma Mater!

Hail, all hail, Cornell!

Members of CAAOC, it is almost time for the biggest night for Cornellians everywhere, Zinck’s Night! Come join us on October 21st as we remember our day’s at Cornell.  Last year, Cornell alumni organized celebrations around the world, and we look forward to seeing what this year brings.

Zinck's Night has become much more than a time to trade treasured tales about a cramped bar, a colorful barkeep, and a catchy tune ("We'll all have drinks / At Theodore Zinck's / When I get back next fall!"). It's an occasion dedicated to celebrating Cornell University, no matter where you may be. Come be a part of tradition as we raise our glasses and toast our alma mater!

As usual, friends and family of Cornellians are welcome to join us. Zinck’s Night is always a great time and is usually one of our best turnouts for the year - we hope to see you there!

Come enjoy the company of fellow alumni!

From Evolving to a $1 Billion Chain to Surviving COVID

Wednesday, December 1, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

Hello Cornellians!

We are back and overjoyed to invite you to our first business luncheon in almost 2 years

Please join us as our accomplished guest speaker, Mr. Alex Puchner, Senior Vice President, Brewing Operations at BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. tell us the amazing story of BJ's.

Since their humble beginnings back in 1978, BJ's continued to refine their brewhouse experience to make their restaurants a place where you can make the most of any meal. Add to that, they not only survived but thrived through the complexity of an almost 2-year long pandemic, which sent the restaurant industry in a tailspin.

How does BJ's do it? Alex Puchner is in the middle of keeping BJ's and their brewhouses alive and well and tells us how he and the company manage relevance, growth and survival during and post COVID era.

Event Summary:

  • Overview of Alex's path after Cornell
  • BJ's in a nutshell: initial positioning, current size, sales, market penetration, prototype restaurant
  • How did they get here? BJ's ongoing evolution as a restaurant brewery concept over 25 years
  • Surviving COVID: Impact on BJ's sales and operations, their evolution to adjust to the new 'normal'
